APOLLO THEATER - 235 WEST 125TH ST. - HARLEM, NY
• THE PROJECT

Early in 1982 Titan was retained by the Urban Development Corp to manage the re-development of Harlem’s Apollo Theater.  The assignment would entail the writing of a feasible business, plan which would be responsive to the City and States plans for 125th Street and the Harlem Community as a whole.  The project would be owned by the Apollo Theatre Investors Group which would be represented by the Honorable Percy E. Sutton.  The theater, an historic landmark of 1600 seat capacity would be a source of programming for television.  Titan’s final plan included New York State and Manufactures Hanover Trust Co. (Community Reinvestment Act funding) as the two main sources of funding.  The final plan would include the theater hosting “Showtime at the Apollo” with a live audience, production and post production facilities, control and editing rooms a studio for taped programming and more.  Titan personnel provided the leadership and management which included writing the business plan, funding, through managing the Architecture, Engineering, Furnishings, Equipping and Construction of the Apollo Theatre Video Center.
